SUMMARY:SSBOA August 2024 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Cost:     $35.00 – Lunch will be catered \n2018 and 2021 IRC Significant Changes to Deck Provisions.\nThis presentation introduces basic design and construction methods for single-story residential wood decks focusing on the significant changes to the 2018 and 2021 International Residential Code (IRC). The vertical and lateral load paths of conventional residential decks\, as well as other general information about decks is also included. Specific design guidance includes convenient span tables for joists and beams and tables of post sizing limitations and connection methods.  \nFloor\, Roof and Wall Framing for the New Inspector.\nThis introductory course will focus on basic framing concepts\, engineering principles supporting them\, and relevant code provisions associated with conventional light-frame wood construction.  Common code violations that will be encountered in the field\, along with potential solutions will be illustrated to assist inspectors with ensuring building safety and conformance with applicable state building codes. \nEach class is 1.5 hours\, so 3 hours total  \n  \n\n  \nInstructor: \nED LISINSKI\, P.E.\, C.B.O.\nMidwest Regional Manager\nC: 414-412-6096 E: elisinski@awc.org \nEd Lisinski is the Midwest Regional Manager for the American Wood Council.  \nMr Lisinski worked as a plan reviewer\, Assistant Director and then Building Official and Department Director for the City of West Allis\, Wisconsin.  After 16 years with West Allis\, he joined AWC in 2021. He has been active at ICC\, including serving as the chair of the ICC Building Membership Council and as chair of the ICC Structural Code Development Committee. He is a Certified Building Official and a Professional Engineer. \nMr. Lisinski is well qualified and brings his excellent experience to his presentation. He understands the role of a building official and the industry’s best practices. His participation in the ICC code changes process and Code Development Committee brings a new dimension to his presentation. Ed is a great resource to our group.
