Join SSBOA for our September meeting and educational class presented by Stego Industries.

Vapor Barriers: Nuisance or Necessity?

This class will cover below-slab vapor barriers, moisture protection, and common issues that can occur when moisture moves through a concrete slab.

Topics will include:

• Current vapor barrier standards and recommendations from ASTM, ACI, and PCA
• Differences between polyethylene and other vapor barrier products
• Proper vapor barrier placement and installation
• Concrete moisture testing and drying
• Radon gas considerations
• Common below-slab moisture problems
• Choosing the proper vapor barrier for a project

About the Instructor

Patrick Murphy has worked around the construction industry since high school. He graduated from Purdue University in 2017 and joined Stego Industries in 2019.

For the past seven years, Patrick has specialized in below-slab vapor barriers and moisture protection. He has presented continuing education and technical seminars to more than 200 firms and has completed more than 200 Stego Wrap installation reviews, both in person and digitally.

His field experience has exposed him to a wide range of products and installation methods and gives him a practical perspective on where problems can occur and how proper product selection and installation can help prevent them.
